Gumuchian Earns ‘Made In NY’ Certification

New York, NY—Gumuchian is proud to announce the firm has been awarded the sought after Made In NY certification (left).

Fueled by a groundbreaking initiative by the NYCEDC under the leadership of Mayor Bill de Blasio, the certification highlights manufacturers who have shown a commitment to local production and innovation. Gumuchian only the second jewelry brand to receive the prestigious certification. (Carelle is the other.)

The brand was founded by Anita Gumuchian, and is now managed by her daughters, Myriam and Patricia. The firm continues a family legacy in the jewelry industry dating back more than 100 years. The brand’s collections, including the philanthropic "B" collection, the fashion-forward Carousel Collection, and the new Secret Garden collection, are manufactured in full in Gumuchian’s midtown Manhattan offices. With an office managed by women, the brand’s "Designed by Women for Women" mantra emerged.

The Made In NY seal empowers local manufacturers and designers to connect with each other and with consumers. It also encourages creativity in several forms, including partnerships in community development. Gumuchian has been a crusader for the declining bee population for many years. A portion of proceeds from the "B" Collection are donated to City Growers, a Brooklyn, NY-based organization educating urban youth about sustainable environmental practices.
