Phil Yantzer spoke with Centurion attendees about recent activity in the GIA Lab. The Lab had a record diamond intake in the 2nd half of 2009. A few highlights:  The diamond shapes most often submitted were led by rounds – 82% in 2009  Colored stone intake continues to grow  Increase in diamonds with triple excellence (cut, symmetry and polish)

And regarding size for diamonds in 2009:  22% were 0.50 – 0.69 carat  21% were 0.30 – 0.39 carat  19% were 1.00 – 1.49 carats
