Merrick, NY—July brought more sad news to the luxury jewelry community, as we bid farewell to two leading retail innovators, John Von Bargen and Harold Tivol. We also lost longtime AGS jeweler Ronnie Cox and renowned gem photographer Fred Ward. Jewelers celebrated the accomplishments of top women in the industry, and also saw how women, fashion, and yoga pants are shaping the marketplace. Upstairs retailers show that success doesn’t always come from a storefront. The ongoing concerns about synthetic diamonds entering the market were amplified and a new, improved production of moissanite sends jewelers running for a better moisstrap.
