Sanibel, FL—Doron Hakimian, president and chief designer of Doves by Doron Paloma, is doing something very unusual this weekend: instead of standing behind the counter at a Doves trunk show at Lily & Co. Jewelers, he’s going to be out playing tennis. (Left: Exterior of Lily & Co. with Lily, the store’s namesake.)

Dan Schuyler who with Karen Bell is one of Lily & Co.’s owners, discovered a few years ago that he and Hakimian share a mutual love of tennis. So it’s no surprise that he invited Hakimian and timed a Doves trunk show to coincide with a tennis tournament the store is sponsoring to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Schuyler met Hakimian at the 2015 U.S. Open with legendary tennis coach Nick Bollettieri. Bollettieri and his IMG Academy pros will provide instruction to players on the HydroGrid clay courts of Beachview Tennis Club. Children can receive tips and win prizes, accompanied by a paid adult.

“We couldn’t be more excited to again welcome Doves to our wonderful island,” said Lily & Co. owners Dan Schuyler and Karen Bell. “It is a real treat to have him join us in our tennis event, too.”

The Doves trunk show will be this Friday, November 11; Hakimian will then take part in Lily & Co.’s ‘Playing to Keep Families Close’ tournament the next day. The tournament benefits Ronald McDonald House Charities, which focuses on programs directly improving the health and wellbeing of children and their families in Southwest Florida.

“The idea is to help the everyday player, sure,” said Bollettieri about his guest role at the event. “But it is more about helping the community, the thing that is most important to Dan and Karen.”

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to once again visit Lily & Co. and Sanibel Island,” said Hakimian. “From the first time I met Dan and Nick, I knew they had big hearts. This special tennis event really represents a small portion of what they do for their community. I am just delighted to be a part of it.”

Doves’ jewelry has garnered a tremendous amount of celebrity attention. Hakimian, an architect by training, discovered a passion for jewelry design after spending a summer sketching pieces for his family’s gemstone business. Since then, he’s designed exclusive pieces for First Lady Michelle Obama, Jennifer Lopez, Catherine Zeta-Jones and many others.
