Per an update shared on Facebook by The Precinct 4 Constable's Office of North Harris County, the first theft by the accused, Marcelo Hernandez, occurred in October at David Yurman Jewelry, where over $380,000 worth of items were stolen.

In April, Helzberg Diamond was burglarized with losses of more than $170,000.

Following an investigation, Hernandez was arrested on April 11. Per a report in Yahoo News, his military status was revealed when his dog tags appeared during his arrest. He had completed Marine boot camp in 2023, which heightened scrutiny over his alleged involvement in the thefts.

The stolen haul included 315 pieces, comprising 111 rings, 52 pairs of earrings, 70 necklaces, 30 pendants, and 52 bracelets. Most items have been recovered, although some remain missing.

Hernandez is being held on a $500,000 bond and is due in court on May 28.
