Birmingham, AL--A northern Alabama jewelry store was the scene of an armed robbery attempt that was part of a violent crime spree on. March 28. Two men were captured the following day and charged after an hours-long standoff with law enforcement, according to news website, Ala.com. The two men are also suspects in a kidnapping of two women prior to the robbery attempt.

The armed robbery happened at Griffin’s Jewelers in Guntersville, AL., north of Birmingham. Three men entered the store in a holdup attempts but fled after the manager shot at them, Ala.com reported quoting police sources. Hours earlier there was a report of a carjacking and abduction of two women, which was caught on surveillance cameras. The van that was carjacked matched the vehicle used in the robbery, according to the report. The women were later found unharmed.

Police captured the two men on March 29 after an hours long standoff at an apartment complex in Birmingham, according to the report. Jonathan Banks, of Guntersville, and Andre Burgin, of Midfield are charged with robbery in the Thursday holdup at Griffin’s Jewelers, according to the report. More charges are expected against them. The investigation is ongoing, according to the report.
