2011 ENDS ON A POSITIVE NOTE FOR AFFLUENT AMERICANS; OPTIMISM REIGNS FOR 2012 January 18, 2012 (0 comments)
New York, NY—Optimism among affluent consumers rose for three consecutive months at the end of 2011, according to the latest report from Engage: Affluent by Mediapost.com. A rise of 10 percentage points in the site’s survey shows an increase of almost 6 million affluent Americans who perceive improvements in the economy, especially the job market and consumer spending. The findings come from the site’s monthly survey of adults age 18+ living in households with at least $100,000 in annual income.
Said the report:
- 56% said 2011 was a good year for themselves and their families, and nearly two-thirds expect 2012 to be personally good as well.
- 38% said the year was good for their career or finances, while that figure jumps to 54% who believe 2012 will be good for career and money.
- Finally, about 30% expect things will improve for America as a whole, compared to only 10% who said 2011 was good for the country as a whole.
