The Classic Solitaire

New York, NY--Buying an engagement ring remains a major step for couples preparing for marriage, with men often navigating a complex set of choices when selecting a diamond. The process typically involves balancing technical quality with style preferences to match a partner's personality.

A new guide released by Only Natural Diamonds highlights the importance of the “4Cs"—cut, carat, clarity, and colour—when assessing the value of natural diamonds. Cut defines brilliance and light performance; carat measures weight rather than size; clarity reflects inclusions and blemishes formed during natural growth; and colour is graded on a D-to-Z scale, from colourless to tinted.

The report noted that the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) recently revised its certification system, continuing to grade natural diamonds under the 4Cs, while lab-grown stones are not evaluated the same way. According to the guide, natural diamonds retain greater long-term value and are often purchased both as symbols of commitment and as heirlooms intended to be passed down.

The guide highlighted popular styles including classic solitaires, two-stone Toi Et Moi rings, horizontal East-West settings, halo designs with pavé accents, practical chunky bands, and diamond-studded eternity rings.
