Staten Island, NY--A 70-year-old woman was injured during a robbery at a Staten Island jewelry store on the afternoon of May 31, with two suspects fleeing the scene with an estimated $5,000 in stolen merchandise, as reported by Shore News Network.

The robbery took place around 3:55 p.m. at a jewelry store located at 302 New Dorp Lane. According to police statements cited in the report, the suspects—both described as males with dark complexions, wearing all black clothing—entered the store, assaulted the employee by striking her on the head with a blunt object, and removed jewelry from a display case.

As per the report, the woman was transported to Staten Island University Hospital’s North Campus and is in stable condition. Police have not specified the exact type of weapon used in the assault, and the identities of both the suspects and the victim have not been released.

The report noted that surveillance footage from nearby businesses is being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation. Detectives from the NYPD are canvassing the area for witnesses and encouraging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers or the local precinct.

According to the report, no arrests have been made as of Sunday, and the investigation is ongoing.
