Surveillance footage showed multiple individuals exiting vehicles outside the store, some carrying hammers, and trying to smash through the storefront. The group managed to break one of the bulletproof glass doors before the store owner intervened.

"I do it for one thing — to protect my business, my employee," the owner told CBS News. "I have to shoot, I do one shot to scare first."

The suspects quickly returned to their cars and drove away. No injuries were reported.

The owner stated that he had installed heavy security measures, including double bulletproof doors, and believes these steps played a key role in stopping the break-in.

Per the report, this incident follows a series of recent jewelry store burglaries in Southern California. In June, thieves stole $1.5 million in gold and diamonds from a store in El Monte after cutting through the roof and safes using power tools. In another case, a group used a blowtorch to access multiple businesses inside the Encino Jewelry Mart.

According to CBS News, two other jewelry stores — one in Glendale and another in Simi Valley — were also targeted in May by groups that broke in through the roof.

The Anaheim Police Department is investigating the attempted burglary and working to identify the suspects.
