St. Cloud, MN--After 97 years in business, Bachman Jewelers in downtown is set to close just before summer. Established by Barney Bachman in 1926, the store was later sold to Ted Bestgen in 1970, with his son John Bestgen taking ownership in 1995.

Retirement was a difficult decision for Bestgen, "I feel really blessed I've been able to be a part of people's lives the way I have." said Bestgen, as per a WJON report. "You get to be a part of so many milestones starting with engagements. I like to think of jewelry as wearable memories."

The owner has been touched by the many people who have reached out to congratulate him and express sadness over the store's closure. Bestgen appreciates his connections with clients, who he now considers friends and family.

Bachman Jewelers will close once its remaining inventory is sold, with no official closing date announced. As for Bestgen's next chapter, he plans to enjoy more travel, golf, hunting, and fishing. Bachman Jewelers has been a downtown St. Cloud fixture since 1956.
