Westfield Topanga--Ben Bridge Jeweler held a boutique event last month to mark the arrival of Longines at its Westfield Topanga location. The gathering included an exhibition of historical timepieces borrowed from the Longines museum in Saint-Imier.

According to Watch Insider, the display focused on the watchmaker's history in aviation and sports timing. Guests also saw live custom sketches by artist Jeanette Getrost during the event.

The report said the exhibition highlighted two mechanical developments. One was the Caliber 24 from 1938, created for the 1940 Helsinki Olympic Games. The report stated that the movement included a semi-instantaneous 30-minute counter and split-seconds function intended for high-level sports timing.

The second featured piece was the Caliber 260 from 1957, described by Watch Insider as a high-frequency development of the 24-line system. The report added it used a fly-back hand that completed a full dial rotation in 30 seconds, enabling accuracy to one-tenth of a second.
