Birks Group Names Aldo Battista CFO as Katia Fontana Retires March 09, 2026 (0 comments)
Quebec, Canada--Birks Group Inc. has scheduled a transition in its financial leadership. Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Katia Fontana will retire on April 1, concluding her six-year tenure with the company.
According to a report by Canadian Jeweller Magazine, Aldo Battista was hired as Vice President of Accounting and Treasury on February 11, 2026. He will work alongside Fontana during a transition period before officially taking over as vice president and CFO on April 2.
Interim CEO and Executive Chairman Niccolò Rossi di Montelera commended Fontana's contributions and said her ongoing assistance will help maintain operational stability during the handover.
The report noted that Battista brings over 25 years of finance and accounting experience. His professional history includes 16 years at Reitmans (Canada) Limited, an early audit role at Deloitte, a CPA designation, an Executive MBA from Queen's University, and a Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University.
In a reflective statement, Fontana expressed appreciation for the company's staff's dedication and voiced optimism about the business's future strategic priorities under the incoming financial leadership.
