Blood Evidence Leads to Arrest in Irvine Smash-and-Grab Robbery July 10, 2024 (0 comments)

Irvine, CA--A suspect in a smash-and-grab robbery at Jewels By Alan in Irvine was arrested on July 2, with blood left at the crime scene playing a vital role in the investigation.

As per a report in ABC7, the robbery occurred on July 31, 2023, at the jewelry store near Jamboree Road and Michelson Drive. During the heist, three individuals stole nearly $900,000 worth of jewelry.

Surveillance footage captured the suspects, armed with hammers, breaking into the store and smashing display cases to steal the merchandise. One suspect left blood on a broken display case, which the OC Crime Lab later analyzed.

According to the report, the Irvine Police Department announced that the blood evidence led to the identification of Jaylon Amori Strickland, a 21-year-old from Long Beach. Police also noted that they are making progress in identifying the two remaining suspects.
