Jewelers Donate Over $80,000 To Local Charities Through Sarah’s Hope; MN Retailer Wins an Extra $1,000 For Charity
Middleton, WI--In the year and a half since Sarah’s Hope Jewelry launched its Giving Back Locally charitiable giving program, the company and its retail jeweler partners have donated more than $80,000 to local charities across the United States. Beginning this month, participants will have a chance to again “do good” by joining the program.
Participating retail jewelers purchase select pieces of Sarah's Hope Jewelry from designated specially priced “Giving Back Packs.” Sarah’s Hope Jewelry, a socially responsible jewelry company, encourages jewelers to donate a percentage (20% suggested) from sales of these pieces to a charity that benefits their local community.
In addition to the Giving Back Locally program, each purchase of Sarah's Hope Jewelry gives back domestically and internationally by supporting important programs that fund microloans and small business education scholarships for women around the world. But recognizing that local jewelers see needs in their own communities every day, Sarah's Hope Jewelry extended its corporate giving initiative by encouraging jewelers to give back to a local charity of their choice through this campaign.
“While our company continues to assist with international and domestic programs, this is a wonderful opportunity for retail jewelers to contribute directly to charitable work happening right in their own backyards,” said Sarah J. Smith, Founder of Sarah’s Hope Jewelry.
Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company is enhancing the program. Last year, JMI awarded an extra $1000 to the charity of choice in the store that sold the most Sarah’s Hope Jewelry during the peak holiday sales period of November and December, 2012. The winner was D.J. Bitzan Jewelers of St. Cloud, MN. D.J. Bitzan raised $1,496 to give to the Starfish Program, a mentoring program for women who have experienced abuse, domestic violence and/or assault.
“We are so fortunate to live in an engaged and generous community,” said Erin Bitzan of D.J. Bitzan Jewelers. “Our sales associates and customers were so excited by the Giving Back Locally program. Through this donation, more women will be able to enroll in the Starfish Fund’s life-changing mentorship programs.”
Bitzan’s grandfather, Don, founded their store in 1966 and her father, Dick, is now its president. “Giving back is just part of being an invested member of the community. My grandfather’s goal was to create a store that helps customers celebrate life’s moments. It is so neat for our customers to have an opportunity to also help our neighbors by choosing a gift that keeps on giving,” she said.
Patrick Drummond, vice president of sales and marketing at Jewelers Mutual, said, “We were honored to once again partner with Sarah’s Hope Jewelry in the Giving Back Locally program and share in the giving spirit with jewelers across the country and within their local communities,” “Congratulations to D.J. Bitzan Jewelers for their amazing charitable efforts, of which we are proud to help contribute to.”
