A Moving Tribute to Richard Krementz

Dallas, TX—The most recent issue of PRISM, the quarterly newsletter of the American Gem Trade Association included a moving tribute to the late Richard Krementz, written by his associate Danielle Barber. Here is an excerpt:

“Richard was a force of nature. Physically robust, energetic and tenacious, he had an unbridled intensity and intrinsic passion for his profession. He was a fascinating man: one of bold extremes and powerful convictions. He absolutely and unequivocally loved and believed in what he did, often putting in 6 full days at the office. His buying prowess was legendary. His word was mint.

Richard had presence. He was not exceptionally extroverted to those outside his familiar circle, yet he commanded a room. Despite his accomplished jewelry pedigree, he usually eschewed the spotlight, often turning down personal interviews, never wanting to draw attention to himself. Professionally, he was happiest in his element, buying extraordinary gems and creating exceptional jewelry. Personally, he loved travelling the globe with Peggy, his adored wife of 60 years, or spending time on Criehaven, their island off the coast of Maine.”

Two Niche Diamond Firms Combine Forces

Ramat Gan, Israel—Eurostone, an Israel-based manufacturer of custom-cut and calibrated polished diamonds, and Diamaz, a veteran Antwerp-based boutique diamond supplier, are stepping up cooperation in marketing this niche category of diamonds to the luxury watchmakers and jewelry designers worldwide.

Eurostone's CEO, Pini Netzer, said, "The agreement with Diamaz is yet another step in Eurostone's efforts to expand its marketing network and to establish a pied-a-terre in the major diamond trading centers worldwide."

Diamaz principal Thierry Silber said that during the past year, mutual business between the two firms had grown significantly and that the time had come to formalize the relationship.
