Alishan, Simon G. to Partner With Aaron Faber For Bridal Fair

New York, NY—Aaron Faber Gallery welcomes spring with “An Exploration of the Bridal Affair,” a month-long exhibition of vintage, art deco and contemporary engagement and wedding rings.  A two-day event in conjunction with the exhibition brings together a curated selection of partners to introduce prospective brides and grooms to the next steps in their journey.

On April 24, the jeweler will host “Groom’s Night Out,” an evening of masculine pursuits for prospective grooms, their best men, and friends.  The evening starts with a presentation by Glenfiddich Scotch Whisky, whose master of ceremonies will teach the best men how to give a proper toast. Representatives from Trafalgar menswear will show grooms and their wedding parties how to dress impeccably for that special day. Alishan Halebian of jewelry house Alishan will present his latest collection of rough diamond bridal jewelry to help the man in love find the perfect expression of that love as Aaron Faber Gallery exhibits an intriguing collection of vintage and collectible Rolexes, Patek Philippe, and other contemporary watches for the man who wants a little something for himself.  Catering it all will be Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chão, whose operations manager will give tips for a once-in-a-lifetime bachelor party.

Brides and bridesmaids get their turn the next day, when Alishan, Fogo de Chão, Nevaeh Lingerie, Papyrus, Simon G, Sofitel New York and Trafalgar will assemble to help the bride cross a few “to finds” off her list. Both Simon G and Alishan will showcase their most spectacular engagement and wedding rings. Papyrus will display the perfect stationary for making the most important announcement of one’s life.  As Trafalgar shows prospective brides how dashing their groom can be, Nevaeh Lingerie will do a presentation of what to wear on the honeymoon night.  Sofitel New York will share how to put it all together, while the Aaron Faber team helps prospective brides find a gift for her groom – a vintage watch made in the year of his birth.  Fogo de Chão will present an assortment of desserts.

“With our carefully selected partners, we’re creating a space where prospective brides and grooms easily find the very best in the industry without being overwhelmed by too many options,” said Patricia Faber, co-owner of Aaron Faber Gallery.  “We also wanted to make exploring the bridal affair fun for both bride and groom, as well as their friends. The two events allow each party to focus on what is essential to them.”

As part of the event, Aaron Faber Gallery and partners will offer special giveaways to three lucky couples. One couple will receive a honeymoon package from Sofitel New York, Nevaeh Lingerie, and Trafalgar.

Rolex Appoints New CEO, Again

Geneva, Switzerland—For the third time in six years, Rolex has named a new chief executive. In a surprise announcement Tuesday, the luxury watch brand named Zenith watches’ head Jean-Frédéric Dufour to the top slot. He will take the helm from Gian Riccardo Marini, who formerly ran Rolex Italia and led Rolex globally for less than three years. Marini, in turn, replaced Bruno Meier, who held the position from 2008 to 2011.

According to a report in National Jeweler, Marini and Dufour will work cooperatively to ensure a smooth transition but no official date has been set for it.

Jewelers’ Mutual Warns Homeowners’ Insurance Could Drive Customers To A Competitor

Neenah, WI—Despite a jeweler’s best efforts to build lifetime relationships, if a customer loses a cherished piece of jewelry, their insurance provider may force them to use another retailer to replace it.

Standard homeowners’ insurance policies may provide only limited jewelry protection, but even policies that will replace the piece may request that customers use jewelry repair or replacement companies within the insurer’s network, or to obtain several estimates before proceeding with a claim. Those requirements are not only inconvenient to the customer but also can cut the original jeweler out of the loop.

“We recommend that jewelers mention jewelry insurance to their customers with each jewelry sale,” says Michael Calabresa, director of business development for Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company. “Jewelers Mutual sends their insured customers back through their door for regular jewelry cleanings, inspections, value reassessments, and appraisals. These are all fantastic opportunities for jewelers to strengthen their customer relationships, upgrade jewelry, and make additional sales. Jewelers Mutual will not require multiple estimates, and will allow the individual to work with their own trusted jeweler.”

JM’s Perfect Circle personal jewelry insurance provides worldwide comprehensive coverage against loss, theft, damage and mysterious disappearance or unexplained loss. JM suggests consumers ask their insurer whether their current policy will cover replacement of a lost or damaged piece with “same kind and quality,” so the new piece will be virtually indistinguishable from the original, “returned looking exactly as it did the day they fell in love with it.”

Also inquire if the insurer provides the option of choosing a $0 deductible.
