CIRCA Partners with National Osteoporosis Foundation

New York, NYCirca, the international buyer of jewelry, diamonds and watches, has announced a new partnership with the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF), at a Generations of Strength luncheon (left) held at the Friars Club in New York City.

To kick off the partnership, Circa acting CEO Mary L. Forté presented NOF executive director and CEO Amy Porter with a check for $25,000, to support NOF’s mission of preventing osteoporosis and broken bones, and raising awareness for the importance of building strong bones for life. The donation is part of a broad program Circa nitiated with NOF that also includes a unique fundraising platform that allows NOF’s supporters to contribute to the organization through the sale of jewelry they no longer wear.

“Circa is honored to support the National Osteoporosis Foundation, an organization that has made tremendous strides in the education and prevention of osteoporosis, helping millions of women lead happier, healthier lives,” said Forté. “The alignment is a natural fit, and we are very excited to build on our initial gift by offering an innovative fundraising platform to NOF’s supporters.”

From now through the end of May 2013 (National Osteoporosis Awareness Month), Circa will donate 10 percent of the price of all jewelry purchased from clients who mention the NOF partnership, up to $100,000. Additionally, Circa will provide buying services to NOF for private jewelry-selling parties at Circa offices across the nation or at NOF-sanctioned events.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Circa and welcome the opportunity to offer our supporters a new way to contribute to our mission,” said Porter. “Circa’s generous contribution and the proceeds raised through jewelry sales and parties will advance our efforts to support those living with osteoporosis and protect future generations from the disease.”

Tuesday’s kickoff luncheon also featured a presentation by MORE magazine's fashion features editor, Susan Swimmer, who offered expert advice on spring fashion trends—and spring cleaning in both closet and jewelry box.

"An updated wardrobe tells the world you're smart, savvy and confident, but more importantly your clothes and jewelry are the chic, stylish, flattering wrapper to what's inside,” she told the audience.

Circa also will sponsor NOF’s board of trustees’ dinner at the Interdisciplinary Symposium on Osteoporosis, April 17 in Chicago, and NOF’s sixth annual Generations of Strength Luncheon on September 30 in New York City. Along with the NOF, Circa is seeking additional charitable alliances to offer its unique expertise and fundraising tools.

Patek Philippe, British Airways Team to Reach Luxury Fliers on iPad

London, United Kingdom—British Airways is extending the reach of First Life, its in-flight magazine for first-class travelers, by launching an iPad version in partnership with luxury watchmaker Patek Philippe.

According to a report in Luxury Daily, the digital version went live for download March 1, and offers a more interactive experience than the print edition. The move is geared to tap into affluent tablet users who aren’t currently flying on a British Airways flight.

The iPad edition is available as a free download from Apple’s App Store. The first “Collector’s Issue” (focusing on affluent collectors) is sponsored by Patek Philippe, which has the only ad in the digital edition, on the last page. Among other brands, its watches also are listed as being favored by collectors. Readers can move through short video and images that explain the watches without being taken from the site.

Other editorial features include articles about top global art shows, spring’s luxury essentials, movies and TV’s Brit-hit favorite Top Gear.
