Citizen Acquires Frederique Constant Group
Geneva, Switzerland—Japanese based Citizen Watch Co. Ltd. has acquired Frederique Constant Holdings SA, makers of the affordable-luxury Frederique Constant brand, the sports-oriented Alpina brand, and the boutique Ateliers de Monaco brand. The price of the late-May acquisition was not disclosed, but as this article in WatchTime explains, when the kids don’t want the company, parents have two choices: sell or shutter. Frederique Constant founders Peter and Aletta Stas chose the former option.
The Stases and the remainder of the company’s management team will remain for at least five years, according to the agreement of sale, but other aspects of the business have seen some reorganization, including its public relations team.
