Uneek's Benjamin Javaheri Scoops InDesign Award

Los Angeles, CA—A sapphire and diamond three-stone ring designed by Uneek Jewelry’s Benjamin Javaheri received the Retailer’s Choice Award in the Colored Gemstone category of the 2017 InDesign Awards, presented by InStore magazine.

Featuring a six-carat emerald-cut sapphire center flanked by trapezoid-cut diamond side stones (approx. 0.94 ctw.) the ring is designed to be an “alternative engagement ring. It’s one of the newest style additions to Uneek’s Royal Blue Collection of sapphire and diamond pieces.

“It’s a classic example of the perfect dichotomy,” says Javaheri, referring to how a top view (above left) of this ring shows angular geometric lines, but a downward glance (below) will reveal the three stones resting on a curvy, undulating pavé double shank borrowed from Javaheri’s popular Silhouette Collection of bridal jewelry, inspired by the natural curves of a woman’s body. The combination of sharp architectural lines and fluid organic shapes is a highly original look that not everyone can conceive, says the designer.

Retailers agree, such as Sheila Tompkins of Tompkins Jewelers, Ashland, VA, who wrote, “This is what a jeweler dreams about! OMG, this is exquisite!”

Javaheri is no stranger to design awards, but this is his first award for a colored gemstone piece. All his previous awards were for diamond one-of-a-kind or bridal pieces. “Since Uneek’s inception more than 20 years ago, I was focused on diamond and colored diamond pieces, and I would dabble in colored gemstones occasionally. But three years ago I decided to embrace sapphires completely and dedicate a whole collection to it. Now that collection—which we call Royal Blue—is almost as huge as my colored diamond collection,” he says.

This ring, as well as dozens of new Royal Blue Collection styles, will be on display in Uneek’s salon. LUX1325, at the Luxury by JCK and JCK shows in Las Vegas. Call 888-238-6335 to make an appointment.

Diamond Artist Angie Crabtree to Paint Forevermark By Rahaminov Movál Diamond At JCK

Las Vegas, NV—Rahaminov Diamonds will unveil its latest jewelry collection, the Movál Diamond Jewelry Collection featuring elongated oval shaped Forevermark diamonds, at JCK Las Vegas. The collection will be on display for the first time in both the Forevermark Salon located at Breakers IJ of Mandalay Bay, and in the Rahaminov Diamonds booth, LUX 921.

Rahaminov also will celebrate the launch with a special presentation of diamond artist Angie Crabtree doing a live painting of a diamond from the collection. She will be set up and painting in the Oceanside Ballroom at Mandalay Bay. Her unique, three-foot, custom-shaped diamond painting will convey the Movál’s facets enlarged 1,000+ times, so that the beauty, life, and brilliance of the stone can be viewed in exacting detail.

Cut to specific proportions that maximize the stone’s beauty, life, and brilliance, the elongated oval Forevermark diamond possesses many characteristics of a timeless marquise cut, but with the soft curves of an oval. The new collection, launching at the 2017 Luxury / JCK Las Vegas tradeshow, consists of handmade rings and earrings set in 18k gold and platinum, designed exclusively with Forevermark diamonds. Each piece is made based on the unique features of the center diamond, and no two Movál Forevermark diamonds are alike.

Forevermark Inscribes Two Millionth Diamond

London, UK—The De Beers Group last week announced it has inscribed its two millionth Forevermark brand diamond, a 3.48-carat round brilliant that bears the inscription of ‘2,000,000.’

The diamond was mined, cut and polished in Namibia, and inscribed at the Forevermark Diamond Institute in Surat, India. It will be set in a piece of jewelry at the Forevermark Design and Innovation Centre in Milan, Italy. The design will be worked on by the 2015 runner-up of De Beers Group’s Shining Light Awards, South African Louise Kriek, working under the Forevermark design team as part of a three-month internship at Forevermark in Milan. The Shining Light Awards support aspiring jewelry design students across Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa.

The piece containing the diamond will ultimately become part of Forevermark’s exclusive red carpet collection, to be worn by celebrities at major events and award ceremonies around the world.

Stephen Lussier, CEO of Forevermark, said: “The two millionth inscription reflects the continued growth of the Forevermark brand, which has gone from strength-to-strength since launching nine years ago. This demand is being driven by consumers who want certainty that their diamonds not only possess the highest standards of beauty, but also come with the guarantee of being responsibly sourced.”

Each Forevermark diamond is inscribed with the Forevermark icon and a unique identification number. Forevermark is available in more than 2,000 retail outlets worldwide.

Coronet By Reena Ahluwalia Makes North American Debut In Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV—After a successful launch at Baselworld, the Coronet division of Aaron Shum Jewelry Ltd. will debut its “Inner Brilliance” jewelry collection partnership with world renowned jewelry designer and painter, Reena Ahluwalia, at JCK Las Vegas. The patented spinning diamond collection, part of the ‘Coronet by Reena Ahluwalia’ line, is affordable for retailers.

The 'Inner Brilliance' collection captures the essence of the patented Coronet setting where seven round brilliants and an elevated center diamond set without prongs create the effect of one grand solitaire. For example, 0.30 ctw of diamonds has the look of a 1.0 ct. solitaire.

The signature design element in Reena's design is a pointer shape that points to the center of our being, or our inner brilliance, and serves as a constant reminder to stay connected to what's most valuable to us. Along with the pointer design element that draws attention to the patented Coronet setting, the jewelry pieces also spin on central axis.

Aaron Shum, founder of Coronet and president of his eponymous jewelry brand, commented, “We are honored to partner with Reena again and bring this innovative collection to JCK following a hugely successful launch at Baselworld. Coronet differentiates itself as the trend-setter of the industry. We are always looking for new inspiration to show the beauty of diamonds through unconventional ways. Reena and I collaborated closely on the collection. You can feel our passion, technical invention and love of jewelry in every piece.”

The Inner Brilliance collection comes in all diamond or ruby and sapphire combinations. Retail prices start at $700 USD; 21 SKUs (necklace, pendant, earrings, and rings) are available in 18K white, rose and yellow gold, with or without the spinning diamonds aspect.

Along with the jewelry collection, Ahluwalia’s hyper-realistic Coronet Diamond painting will be showcased at Aaron Shum Jewelry, Booth B48132 at JCK Las Vegas. Separately, two of Ahluwalia’s paintings will be auctioned off to benefit Jewelers For Children at the annual Facets Of Hope Dinner on Wednesday, June 7.

M. Geller Launches Consumer Marketing Campaign For Lab-Grown Diamonds

Chicago, IL—Rogers & Holland will be among the first retailers to stock “New Dawn” brand lab-created diamonds from M. Geller Ltd. Marc Geller, founder and CEO of M. Geller, says there’s already consumer demand for man-made, lab-grown diamonds among younger consumers. “The New Dawn brand will engage them with a comprehensive digital marketing initiative and drive more consumers into New Dawn jewelry retailers throughout the USA and Canada,” he said.
The brand will target a younger consumer audience and its marketing will emphasize a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to traditional mined diamonds. The New Dawn consumer marketing initiative will be driven by digital engagement, social media content, video, and ads all targeted to drive consumers to the websites and landing pages of authorized New Dawn retailers, then into brick and mortar locations for in-person presentations and sales.
Additionally, there will be a strong emphasis on cause marketing, with every sale of a New Dawn Diamond at retail generating a contribution to an environmental non-profit.
“Rogers & Hollands and Ashcroft and Oak are excited to partner with M. Geller as a Charter Authorized Retailer for New Dawn Diamonds,” said the retailer’s CEO, Craig Stern. “We recognize the need to engage with a younger consumer and offer them a new jewelry shopping experience and we feel the New Dawn man-made, lab grown diamond product and brand will help us to bring that consumer into our stores.”
Other charter authorized retailers for New Dawn Diamonds include Kassab Jewelers, Portland, OR; The Gem Lab, Rochester, NY; The Jewelry Factory, North Hollywood, CA; Joseph Jewelry, Bellevue, WA, and McCoy Goldsmith & Jewelers, Dubuque, IA.
