Nanis Celebrates 25 Years With New Collections

Vicenza, Italy—Nanis is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the introduction of two new collections, Cachmere and Trasformista. Nanis founder and principal designer Laura Bicego is a second-generation jeweler whose signature style incorporates intricate hand-engraved textured surfaces and multifunctional pieces that always offer a surprise to the wearer. According to the designer, serendipity has always played a role in the creation of her pieces, especially when figuring out complex hinges, clasps, and other elements of construction.

The Trasformista collection (on model, left) features pieces that transform with a simple twist or turn, and the Cachmere collection is inspired by the soft, warm luxury wool of the same name.

ALOR Wins Reversal Of Cable Jewelry Injunction

San Diego, CA—A three-judge panel has reversed the preliminary injunction preventing ALOR International Ltd. from selling certain cable jewelry. ALOR is locked in dispute with luxury goods brand Philippe Charriol International (“PCI”), involving claims of trademark infringement, copyright infringement, and breaches of a licensing agreement between the two companies.

The Ninth Circuit’s written decision concluded that the parties’ Jewelry License Agreement did not include the contested cable design mark, but only the word marks expressly listed in the contract’s schedule of licensed marks. Additionally, contrary to the district court’s findings, the Ninth Circuit stated that any prohibition of sales of similar designs by ALOR did not extend past the contract’s term. Read more here.
