New York, NY--Breitling is celebrating its 140th anniversary with the introduction of the Calibre B19, its first perpetual calendar chronograph movement. This new movement will be featured in three special edition models: the Premier, Navitimer, and Chronomat.
According to a report in The Hour Glass, Breitling’s history includes the co-development of the first automatic chronograph calibre in 1969 and the release of its first in-house movement, the Caliber 01, in 2009. The Calibre B19 offers a full calendar and moon phase that automatically adjusts for leap years and varying month lengths. It has a power reserve of approximately 96 hours and features an engraved gold rotor.
The Premier B19 Datora 42 140th Anniversary features a 42mm 18k red gold case, a blacked-out dial with a moonphase at 12 o’clock, and a perpetual calendar with a leap-year counter at 6 o’clock. It also has a black alligator leather strap and an 18k red gold buckle.
The Navitimer B19 Chronograph 43 Perpetual Calendar 140th Anniversary, first introduced in 1952, retains its circular slide rule and 43mm 18k red gold case. It includes a moonphase at 12 o’clock and comes with a black alligator leather strap.
The Super Chronomat B19 44 Perpetual Calendar 140th Anniversary introduces a grey skeletonised dial in a 44mm case. It includes raised rider tabs at the 15-minute marks on the bezel and an 18k red gold bezel with a black ceramic insert. The watch features a Rouleaux-inspired rubber strap with an 18k red gold buckle.
