Birmingham, AL--Bromberg Jewelers Mountain Brook store located in Mountain Brook Village is undergoing a sweeping renovation. The new layout will be nearly double the square footage of the retail space, while maintaining an intimate, personalized atmosphere.

“As a legacy brand, we owe it to our customers to stay fresh and continually enhance the shopping experience,” said Frederick W. “Ricky” Bromberg, Bromberg & Company president. “Innovation has been important to our success; the changes you will see in the Mountain Brook store are dramatic with an elevated feel, reflecting the leading edge of luxury retail.”

He added, “We are thrilled to renew our 66-year commitment to Mountain Brook retail with this investment. The original building was designed by the Birmingham architecture firm Henry Sprott Long and Associates, so it only made sense to turn to them to reimagine this space.”

Henry Long’s son, Hank Long, is now the principal of that firm, and the project’s lead architect is Alex Wilson.

“Transformative is the best word to describe this project,” Hank Long said. “While the original architectural shell of the building remains, every inch has been redesigned. The building’s mid-century modern design will be preserved, with the exterior updated through the introduction of fresh stone finishes and refined bronze accents. The interior is undergoing a whole-scale, floor-to-ceiling renovation. The new space will be open and airy, with a palette and details inspired by gems and precious metals.”

The new layout incorporates a portion of the adjacent building. An additional entrance and awning will be added and the façade will be made of material that is similar in texture and color to the brick on surrounding buildings in the village. A continuation of the bronze trim will marry the architecture of the structures and better reflect the character and style of the neighborhood, the retailer said in the statement. This portion of the project will become Bromberg Galleries, housing the bridal registry, giftware, fine china and home décor.

“This is an exciting project, steeped in history, and it demands thoughtful, lasting work. It is our duty to create something timeless in design, resilient in structure, and forward-thinking in function; the store is poised to be a source of satisfaction and pride for all involved for years to come,” lead architect Wilson said.

Bespoke display cases and lighting and intimate consultation areas ensures a refined, luxurious environment where customers can explore, connect and celebrate life’s most meaningful moments.

Interior design consultant, Stephanie Maxey, worked on spatial planning, case design and a selection of finishes, tailored to immerse the client in a luxurious yet welcoming space.

A Rolex environment includes an Authorized Rolex Service Center. Display areas throughout the store are thoughtfully curated to showcase Bromberg’s collection of designer jewelry, including David Yurman, Roberto Coin, Mikimoto, Marco Bicego, Jude Frances and Lagos. A customer lounge is being added, and the custom design and consultation areas are being expanded.

Construction is set to begin in August, with a buildout planned in phases that will allow the store to remain open throughout construction, with the retail operation fully functional through Christmas. Bromberg said some services and inventory will move to the new space next door and to Bromberg’s Summit store when interior work commences on the primary retail space in January.
