New York, NY—The Baccarat Hotel in New York City is a study in luxury. Not only is the structure filled with chandeliers, sculptures, and glassware created by the famed crystal house, it’s now offering what might be the world’s most expensive ice cream sundae: a $1,500 confection dubbed the “Bear Extraordinaire.” The dessert includes edible gold and silver, as well as shaved black truffles, dark chocolate, and hibiscus champagne sauce over house-made vanilla bean ice cream, served in a chilled porcelain and crystal bear created, of course, by Baccarat.

Feeling frugal? Order it without the bear for a mere $300.

The dessert was created by head chef Rosario Wakabayashi, who drew her inspiration from the “enchanted forest” surroundings of the Baccarat factory in France. Kitco.com recently sent a reporter to check it out. Click here or on the image below to watch the dessert being created.
