Louisville, KY--U.S. Custom and Border Protection said its officers in Chicago seized counterfeit watches that if they were authentic would be valued at more than $3 million at retail.

The package was labeled as “women’s yoga pants,” according to a post on X, formerly Twitter, from the CBP field office in Chicago. It included fake watches labeled as Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piquet and Cartier, as well counterfeit Louis Vuitton hats. Not a single pair of sweatpants was in the package.

This follows a statement from the CBP saying that in January its officers in Louisville seized 28 shipments of counterfeit designer jewelry worth an average manufacturer’s suggested retail price of more than $975,000, had the good been genuine.

The shipments were mostly from China and Hong Kong and were heading to locations across the U.S. The shipments contained counterfeit designer watches, bracelets, rings, necklaces, and earrings.

“Counterfeit goods are poor quality products that cost U.S. businesses billions of dollars a year while robbing our country of jobs and tax revenues,” said LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke, director, Field Operations, Chicago Field Office. “CBP officers throughout my field offices remain committed to stopping counterfeit smuggling, taking profits from organized crime, and helping protect our communities from potentially hazardous knockoffs.”
