Seattle Seahawks’ DeShawn Shead Proposes to Girlfriend On-Field With Simon G. Ring
Seattle, WA—There was no shortage of drama at Century Link field last Sunday. First, in a much closer outcome than their 2014 Superbowl matchup, the Seattle Seahawks scored a dramatic overtime victory of the Denver Broncos. But then, Seahawks' defensive back DeShawn Shead proposed to his girlfriend, Jessica Martinez, at the 50-yard line.
Shead got down on bended knee as "Will You Marry Me Jessica?" flashed on the Jumbotron, while teammates, friends and family surrounding them in celebration. He popped the question with a Simon G. engagement ring purchased from Robbins Brothers Jewelers’ store in nearby Bellevue, WA.
Shead, who had been planning the proposal for months, said, "Just going through the ring ceremony and that whole process, I thought it would be cool because football was a big part of our relationship.” He chose the Broncos game because he got a Super Bowl ring against Denver—"so I figured she should get her ring against the Broncos, as well."
Shead picked out a Simon G. solitaire engagement ring (style No. MR1577-D) set in 18k white gold with a 1.00 ctw pavé diamond band. The center stone (additional) was an Echo diamond, featuring 98 hand-cut facets for exceptional brilliance.
Shead later announced the happy news to his Instagram followers with a picture captioned, "She said yes!" And the Seahawks congratulated the couple on their engagement by posting to the team's Instagram account.
