Jewelry At The Met Ball
New York, NY—The Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, otherwise known as the “Met Ball,” is the pinnacle of the New York City social season (at least insofar as the fashion industry is concerned), when every doyenne of society turns out in her best and most fashionable garb. It also attracts a strong celebrity following and, in the words of former luxury retailer Jonathan Dorfman, is one of the few remaining society events in the country where attendees still deck out in the kind of massive jewels that were popular in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s.
The Met Ball always kicks off the opening of a special exhibit at the Costume Institute. This year, it celebrates “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art Of The In-Between.” This year’s Met Ball was held May 1, and here’s who wore what:
Model Karlie Kloss and actress/singer Zendaya (above left) wore millions of dollars of Forevermark diamonds between them. Kloss wore 6.0 ct. Forevermark by A. Zendaya, meanwhile, wore a Forevermark Exceptional Diamond ring with radiant fancy intense yellow diamond with side trillions in platinum, 13.02 ctw, and Forevermark fancy yellow radiant double drop earrings, 12.99 ctw; total value $1 million:
