CELEBRITY NEWS: LAVISH DIAMONDS STAR IN DOWNTON ABBEY OPENER January 09, 2013 (0 comments)
Merrick, NY—Downton Abbey fans will agree, the long-awaited Season Three opener didn’t disappoint. While anyone with an Internet connection and a penchant for plot spoilers already knew what to expect—the third season aired in the United Kingdom in the fall—it’s now public knowledge that not only did Lady Mary finally get her man (distant cousin and Downton heir Matthew), she did it in fine style, sporting a 45-carat diamond tiara to hold her vintage bridal veil in place. The tiara, valued at $200,000, came courtesy of famed U.K. jeweler Bentley & Skinner.
Other jewelry trends of note: lots of long, flapper-style bead necklaces, and between the real Princess Catherine and the fictional Lady Mary, could we see a return of modest, long-sleeve wedding gowns, and will diamonds replace pearls as the bride's gem of choice?
