Charles Zuber, a brand known for its sportive watch, the Perfos, is significantly impacting the watch industry. The brand's co-founder, Vincent Perego, recently sat down with WatchTime to discuss the journey and future of Charles Zuber. Perego, an industry veteran, has a rich history in watchmaking, including collaborations with brands like Piaget, Rolex, and Cartier.

Revealing a Brand, Not Building One

Perego explained that Charles Zuber is more about revealing a brand than building one. The brand's history and heritage are already established, thanks to its namesake, Charles Zuber, who worked behind the scenes for many of the biggest names in jewelry. The challenge now is to bring the brand to life and make it accessible to the community of watch enthusiasts and connoisseurs. The company is establishing strategic partnerships and planning a strong presence at the Beau Rivage Hotel in Geneva with a pop-up store to achieve this.

The DNA of Charles Zuber

Describing the brand as a 'neo-Swiss' luxury brand, Perego emphasized in the interview that Charles Zuber is fueled by obsessive creativity and driven by the beauty of simplicity. The brand's DNA echoes Charles Zuber's values, evident in their collections, which perfectly channel Charles's sunny, audacious personality.

Designing with a Clean Slate

When asked about the design direction for the brand, Perego revealed in the interview that they had over 3000 documents, including sketches and photographs, left by Charles Zuber. While many of these designs were commissioned by brands and cannot be reused, there is still abundant material for future jewelry pieces. They collaborated with Eric Giroud, a genius of watch design, for the watch collection, who did a remarkable job on the PERFOS model.

Jewelry and Watchmaking

The Charles Zuber brand pays tribute to Charles Zuber by making jewelry, which has always been at the core of his art. Perego described the brand as jewelers who make watches, emphasizing that everything they do must be beautiful. The brand strives for perfection in execution, a principle that bridges the gap between jewelry and watchmaking.

Future Goals

Charles Zuber was present at Watches & Wonders this year, where they were recognized for their 'neo-Swiss' touch. Perego hopes to see the brand as well-established in high jewelry and watchmaking in five years. He wants the brand to be recognized for its unique aesthetic, creativity, and commitment to the highest standards of craftsmanship — to continue the story of Charles Zuber and keep his spirit alive in everything they do.
