Charleston, SC--Croghan’s Jewel Box, Charleston’s oldest family-owned jewelry store and a fixture on King Street since 1907, has relocated to a new, larger storefront at 155 King Street, just a few blocks south of its original home. The retailer said this move represents “not only a physical expansion but also a bold, forward-looking evolution of a century-old brand rooted in craftsmanship, family, and Southern hospitality.”

Founded by master jeweler and hand engraver William Joseph Croghan, Croghan’s Jewel Box is now managed by third-generation sisters Mariana Ramsay Hay and Rhett Ramsay Outten alongside fourth-generation family members Kathleen Hay Hagood, Mini Hay Avant and Mikell Hay.

“Our move to 155 King Street allows us to continue doing what we love in a space that reflects who we are and where we’re going,” Outten said.

“This expansion is a testament to our family's enduring commitment to Charleston,” Hay added.

Croghan’s new 6,000-square-foot, two-story flagship is located on King Street near the corner of Queen Street in the city’s historic district.

The expanded showroom features antique, estate and contemporary collections, including the in-house Croghan’s Exclusives and fourth-generation Mini Hay Avant’s jewelry designs: the Goldbug Collection and the Mini Collection of exclusive fine jewelry pieces. There is also dedicated space for Croghan’s five expert bench jewelers and four certified gemologists.

Dedicated areas for custom design and jewelry repair

Fourth-generation family members Kathleen, Mini, and Mikell played a significant role in the renovation project. They collaborated closely on all aspects of the project with Willis Hagood Construction, Simons Young of Young + Wales Architects, Jesse Balaity of Balaity Property Enhancement, and the rest of the Croghan’s team.

“The result is a thoughtfully designed space that elevates the client experience while honoring the store’s classic charm, including bespoke lighting fixtures from Charleston-based The Urban Electric Co. and custom exterior awning poles and interior stair railings crafted by local ironworkers,” the retailer said in a statement.
