New York, NY--Global non-profit Diamonds Do Good identified 13 entrepreneurs from 6 diamond-producing countries in Africa and India where nine out of 10 natural diamonds are cut and polished to receive grants as part of its third annual Entrepreneurship Grants program.

Diamonds Do Good’s Grant program is managed through United People Global (UPG) and its president, Yemi Babington-Ashaye. UPG runs the largest sustainability leadership training that supports young change-makers in over 100 countries working on local projects addressing all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Current Diamonds Do Good board members and supporters announced the grants individually to all winners in a live Zoom ceremony on Wednesday. The grant supports entrepreneurs with financial aid ranging from $5,000 to $20,000, enabling them to scale their businesses and increase their societal impact. This year’s winners represent Botswana, India, Lesotho, Namibia, Sierra Leone and Tanzania, spanning diverse industries such as agriculture, education, electronics, and energy.

“Diamonds Do Good is thrilled to continue its support of entrepreneurs who hail from communities where natural diamonds are mined, cut, and crafted into exquisite jewelry. Our Entrepreneurship Grant winners embody the spirit of entrepreneurship and the power of innovative ideas to create positive change,” said Nancy Orem Lyman, executive director, Diamonds Do Good. “We thank all our supporters from the diamond industry who make it possible for Diamonds Do Good to make these life-changing grants.”
