Montreal, Canada--Fine jewelry brand Ecksand has been awarded the Canadian National Mark, a federal certification granted under the Precious Metals Marking Act. According to Retail Insider, the designation confirms that every Ecksand piece—from material sourcing to final production—is made entirely within Canada and meets strict traceability and purity standards.

The certification, issued by the Commissioner of Competition, is rarely awarded. According to the report, a total of 108 National Mark certificates have been issued, with even fewer brands currently maintaining the required compliance to retain the designation.

Founded in 2009, Ecksand operates its own atelier in Montreal and follows a vertically integrated production model. The brand manufactures all of its jewelry in-house using recycled gold and ethically sourced gemstones. The report noted that this structure allows Ecksand to maintain full control over its supply chain and environmental practices.

Ecksand’s Co-Founder and Creative Director, Erica Bianchini, stated that the mark affirms the company’s long-standing commitment to local craftsmanship and ethical transparency. “Every detail, from our ethical noble materials to the thoughtful sculpting of each piece, is guided by the belief that beauty should last,” Bianchini said in a statement quoted in the report.

Unlike the broader “Made in Canada” label, the Canadian National Mark requires verified compliance with federal manufacturing and sourcing standards. According to the report, this designation makes it one of the most stringent certifications available for jewelry in the country.

Ecksand continues to operate showrooms in Montreal and Toronto, offering its certified collections globally through its website.
