Carlsbad, CA--The 2025 edition of Converge, jointly organized by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the American Gem Society (AGS), will feature an editorial panel examining some of the most pressing challenges in the jewelry trade.
Titled "The Biggest Issues Facing Jewelers Today: A Star-Studded Editorial Panel," the session is scheduled for Monday, September 8, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Poinsettia 3 Room at the Carlsbad venue. Howard Hauben, president of The Centurion Jewelry Show, will moderate, with panelists Rob Bates, news director at JCK, and Michelle Graff, editor of National Jeweler.
The discussion will cover key industry issues such as workforce management, the impact of tariffs, falling diamond prices, the lab-grown diamond market, competitive pressures, declining wedding rates, and the effects of global conflicts and sanctions on the industry's supply chain and others.
Converge 2025, taking place September 7–10, combines GIA's gemological research and education with AGS's professional development programs. The event will feature presentations from researchers, sessions with industry speakers, and opportunities for attendees to connect and exchange insights on current market conditions.
