Established in 1971, Edward Arthur Jewelers opened its first store at The Mall in Columbia in 1971 as one of the mall’s original stores. A family-owned and operated business, it would become the longest-standing store in the mall as a purveyor of independent jewelry, watches, appraisals, custom design and jewelry repair. The store was honored as “The Best Place to Buy Jewelry in Columbia” for 17 years in a row by “Howard Magazine.” Over the years, the store grew to include seven locations, and then eventually scaled back to the original location in The Mall in Columbia.

Current owner Randy Brooks was introduced to the jewelry business by his father, a World War II-era watchmaker and jewelry store owner, and his older brother, Edward, who originally established the store. After 52 years, Randy said he is ready for his next chapter where he looks forward to spending time with family and enjoying the novelty of being bored.

“From opening day, and in good times and bad, the community has supported us by shopping here, trusting us and believing in us,” Randy said. “No matter how big or small the purchase was, I want to say, thank you for shopping with us.”
