A report published in Chicago Sun Times states that Torres Omar Jewelers celebrated their 43rd year of operation, with adaptability being a cornerstone of their journey. "Going through COVID was eye-opening," Marketing Director Joey Torres said in the news report. "It was a blessing in disguise because we really anchored down and took our e-commerce business really seriously. So we were able to get organized and generate revenue through there. We just brainstormed as a family to try to figure out different ways to make it happen."

The narrative of Torres Omar is one of perseverance and growth. Established in 1980 by Jose and Maria Torres in Lakeview following their move from Guanajuato, Mexico, the brand expanded with another branch in Logan Square in 1994. Initially named Omar Jewelers, it was in 2008 that the stores united under the banner of Torres Omar Jewelers, with leadership transitioning to their son, Jose Torres Jr.

Norma Torres, wife of Jose Jr., shared insights in the report into the familial dynamics, "I mean, honestly, as a mom, it's like a dream come true to have your kids with you all of the time," Norma Torres said, per the report. "Our kids graduated college and were doing very well in their careers, but one by one, they started being interested in the business."

Their contemporary approach isn't just limited to business strategies. Torres Omar Jewelers actively supports community initiatives, sponsoring local events, Little League baseball teams, and even awarding scholarships to undocumented students.
