Florida Man Who Fatally Shot Jeweler Gets Life in Prison December 04, 2024 (0 comments)
Daytona Beach, FL--A homeless man who fatally shot a jewelry store owner was sentenced to life, according to a news report.
John Willard Craiger, 83, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder with a firearm and attempted first-degree murder in open court November 26 and was sentenced to life in prison, The Daytona-Beach News-Journal reported.

According to various news reports, court documents and surveillance video, Craiger shot and killed Ghazi “Gus” Osta, 68, owner of the Volusia Gold & Diamond store, following an argument over a jewelry transaction. Craiger was then shot by a store employee in the legs and head, according to the Daytona-Beach News-Journal. Craiger returned fire and another store employee struck Craiger in the head from behind.
