According to the GIA news release, the recognition took place during the Board of Governors meeting in early November at the Institute’s headquarters in Carlsbad.

Jacques, who stepped down in August and will retire at the end of the year, received the award from GIA Board Chair Lisa Locklear and President and CEO Pritesh Patel.

Locklear said the Institute was recognizing Jacques for her leadership. Patel said Jacques’ work influenced the organization and the wider industry.

The release also stated that the Board recognized retiring Governor Dr. Barbara L. Dutrow, who joined in 2016. Locklear said Dutrow’s scientific expertise supported the Board’s work over the past decade.

As per the release, the Richard T. Liddicoat Award, established in 1994, has been given to 14 individuals. Three past recipients continue to work with GIA: analytical microscopist John Koivula, executive vice president and chief laboratory and research officer Tom Moses, and distinguished research fellow Dr. James E. Shigley.
