Merrick, NY—With two recent high-profile CEO departures—Best Buy and Highmark Blue Cross—due at least in part to inappropriate office relationships, what’s your policy about love at work?

While this article from Small Business Trends points out many of the obvious pitfalls of a CEO-subordinate relationship, what about dating among employees who don’t have a direct-report relationship? On one hand, it can make other employees uncomfortable if the two are kissing on company time. Even if the relationship is kept entirely out of the workplace, if it ends badly the hard feelings between the two involved may affect their work performance or spill over to everybody else.

But on the other hand, with the volume of time many employees spend at work, it doesn’t leave a lot of time for dating. In general, the lines between work and life are becoming increasingly blurred, especially among Millennials, who are more likely than previous generations to blend the two—and a big part of life when you’re in your twenties and early thirties is the search for a partner.

Jewelers, what do you think? Do you allow employees to date? Enter your comments in the field below, and let’s start a conversation!
