Grandview Klein Opens Diamond Manufacturing Facility in South Africa March 09, 2026 (0 comments)
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa--Grandview Klein Diamonds has opened a new office and diamond manufacturing facility in South Africa, a move the De Beers triple sightholder says represents a strategic investment in beneficiation and technical capacity at origin.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 10,000-square-foot facility was held Feb. 23 and attended by company leadership and senior executives from De Beers Group.
The operation expands the company’s in-country manufacturing capacity and currently employs 50 trained professionals, strengthening South Africa’s role in the global natural diamond value chain.
“For us, beneficiation is not a contractual obligation. It is embedded in our DNA,” said Moshe Klein, CEO of Grandview Klein. “Diamonds should generate opportunity, skills and lasting economic value in the countries where they originate.”
According to the company, the facility integrates advanced planning systems, precision laser cutting and bruting technology, and automated polishing equipment designed to optimize rough yield and improve cutting precision while reinforcing transparency and compliance in the manufacturing process.
Grandview Klein said the expansion supports diamond-producing countries, beginning with South Africa, which has long played a central role in the global diamond industry. The manufacturing sector provides skilled employment and technical expertise while enabling producing nations to participate more fully in the diamond value chain.
The investment comes as the natural diamond sector faces cyclical market pressures, but the company said continued investment at origin reflects confidence in the long-term outlook for the industry and the communities that depend on it.
“Our responsibility extends beyond production,” Klein said. “Natural diamonds remain a critical economic engine for producing nations. Maintaining disciplined manufacturing, investing in skills and upholding rigorous standards, especially during market downturns, is part of honoring that partnership.”
Grandview Klein operates under De Beers Best Practice Principles and is certified under the Responsible Jewellery Council Code of Practices.
