Dallas, TX--Cheryl Nickell, 60, succumbed to cancer on July 15.  Born September 14, 1952 in Mobile, Alabama, she was well respected throughout the jewelry industry, with a 30-year career spanning such top brands as Mikimoto (America) Co. Ltd., Scott Kay, Roberto Coin and, in her last three years, Verragio.

As a mentor, Nickell's knowledge and infectious and contagious smile created a following in the industry and influenced many careers and earned her many longtime friends and colleagues.  She had a passion for jewelry and relationships, and, says Aaron Reed of Mikimoto, was "truly a very special lady and a wonderful person with a good soul and good heart. She will be missed by all that knew her."

She was preceded in death by her parents, and leaves behind her husband of 25 years, Jim Nickell; her sister Karen Reed and niece April Brown; her mother-in-law Virginia Nickell; her brother and sister-in-law Larry and Carole Kinsala; niece and family Kristine, Aaron, Emma, and Maxwell Reed.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Wilshire Baptist Church, 4316 Abrams Road, Dallas, Texas 75214. (214) 824-4531.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nickell’s memory to Wilshire Baptist Church, supporting “Pathways to Ministry."
