According to a report in Johnson County Post, owner Akshay Anand said construction is expected to finish by June, with the store continuing its usual hours—10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Anand noted that the larger space will allow the store to increase its product range and attract a wider customer base.
"Our focus is to carry the largest selection at every single price point," he said, per the report. "Someone can come and shop for $50, $5,000 or $50,000."
Karats specializes in wristwatches and engagement rings, offering custom designs alongside a range of other jewelry, including wedding bands, necklaces, and bracelets.
Founded by the Anand family in India in the 1940s, Karats has operated in Overland Park since 2005. Akshay Anand highlighted the importance of the local community's support in sustaining the business.
"The Johnson County community has supported us, and we have been very fortunate," Anand said. "I think it's very exciting to continue building onto the family heritage but in a different part of the world."
Chief Operating Officer Kristina Anand described the relocation as an important milestone for the business. "It's been a dream," she said, per the report. "It's just a lot of excitement, and I think it's going to be a wonderful addition to Johnson County."
