According to a Larchmont Chronicle report, Hing Wa Lee, a business founded in Hong Kong in the 1960s by the eponymous master gem carver, became globally recognized, leading to an invitation to restore Smithsonian Museum's artifacts in America. Observing the American appreciation for Chinese arts, Lee established a business in Bethesda, Maryland, in the 1970s, which later expanded to the West Coast in 1980.

After graduating from USC Marshall School of Business in 1992, David Lee joined the family business as CEO, expanding the retail operation.

The report noted that, specializing in fine jewelry and timepieces, the luxury retail chain has multiple locations and is a certified Rolex dealers. The new store will dedicate 70% of its space to watches and 30% to jewelry, stocking what it says are "five brands of superior-quality watches."

In the report, Lee mentioned seeking the perfect location for the Rolex brand in Koreatown before discovering Larchmont Boulevard. "In my mind I was saying, 'This is the place.' And Rolex agreed," said Lee, according to the report. His venture will occupy 119 N. Larchmont Blvd., previously home to Buck Mason's corporate office and Coldwell Banker's southern office.

The report noted that the business is scheduled October opening. It will have a club lounge vibe. The second floor will accommodate a VIP lounge where customers can relax after purchases. A rooftop garden deck is also planned.

"It's not just about selling jewelry anymore. It's about giving the customer an experience," Lee said, according to the report.
