Eau Claire, WI--Lasker Jewelers is warning residents in Eau Claire about an ongoing fake gold jewelry scam that has resulted in financial losses for multiple victims, as noted in a report by WLAX.

According to the jeweler, individuals have been approached at gas stations by scammers claiming they need urgent money for gas. The scammers offer what appears to be gold jewelry in exchange for cash. Lasker Jewelers said the items are fake but designed to look realistic, the report highlighted.

The jeweler said the scam has been occurring since this summer and has cost victims thousands of dollars.

Lasker Jewelers urged the public to remain cautious when approached by strangers offering jewelry for sale outside of legitimate retail settings.
