Taylor, MI--Motif Jewelers is celebrating its 40-year anniversary on September 22 and 23 with a sale of up to 30% on all purchases, including pieces from watch brands, Oris and Hamilton. The Oris Airstream will be on site with special offerings and local giveaways.

In the late 1970’s, the Chopjian family began doing design and repair work for independent jewelry firms and department stores throughout the Midwest. As their reputation for fine craftsmanship grew, so did their business, and they established a store in suburban Southfield in 1983 under the name Flash Jewelers. Several years later, a well-known Detroit jeweler called Motif Manufacturing Co., shuttered its headquarters in Detroit’s David Whitney Building. The Chopjians purchased much of their equipment, and later took on their name to become Motif Jewelers, which opened its first retail outlet at Livonia Mall.

Eventually, the Livonia store was closed in favor of a new location in the growing Detroit suburb of Taylor, and in 2021, Motif Jewelers opened a new flagship store at the corner of Eureka and Racho Roads. Today, the store is managed by Toros Chopjian, director of Jewelry Design and Product Development, and his son, Eric, director of Operations.

“We love the work we do helping Detroiters design their dreams, and we couldn’t do it without our amazing community of supporters,” Toros Chopjian said. “It’s incredible to be in business this long, through all the huge changes that have taken place since 1983. That’s why we want to celebrate with our community this September, with exclusive offerings, fun guest vendors and special prices on gorgeous jewelry.”
