Los Angeles—The debate continues: who gets to keep the headlight-sized engagement ring (left) from the blink-of-an-eye Kardashian-Humphries marriage?

According to “The Look” segment of the Today show, popular sentiment—along with etiquette—says return the ring.

And according to this article in the Huffington Post, there apparently is a clause in the couple’s prenuptial agreement—inserted by Kardashian herself—that says she will buy the 20.5 ct. engagement ring from Humphries for its full price in the event of divorce if she wishes to keep it. Without the clause, it seems, she could have saved herself $2 million and kept the ring, says the article. Lucky for Kardashian, it’s a drop in the reported $14 million she earned from the televising of the wedding that kicked off the short-lived marriage.

But legal and good manners aren’t necessarily one and the same—etiquette expert Harriet Cole says the proper protocol is to return the ring if the marriage lasts less than a year.

Meanwhile, Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, told Fox TV that a gift is a gift and her daughter is entitled to keep the sparkler. Jenner is in the minority, however. An online poll on the Today Show website shows 93.4% of respondents think the right thing to do is return it. Only 6.6% agree with Jenner’s view that a gift is a gift.

Centurion readers, what’s your view? Should she keep it?  Should she return it? And what should the jeweler who sold it say if either one wants a refund on it?
