Berkeley, CA--Family-owned business Oaks Jewelers celebrated its 75th anniversary with a Sip & Shop Event on December 2. This milestone celebrated the store's legacy established by founders Henry "Papa Hank" Accornero and his half-brother Bob Zavattaro in 1948.

In a report published in Berkeleyside, Melissa Accornero-Macchi, the current owner and granddaughter of the founder, recalled her childhood spent in the store, which she said had always been more than just a business — a hub for family gatherings and holiday celebrations.

The store's longevity is marked by family legacy, with three generations of the Accornero family involved in the business. Accornero-Macchi began her tenure at Oaks Jewelers in 2012, working alongside her grandfather, aunt, uncle, and father. She took over ownership in 2021, continuing the family tradition with her business partner, Adam Nielsen.

The 75th-anniversary celebration took place in the Bayview Room at Golden Gate Fields. Inspired by a Berkeleyside story highlighting the store's history, this event featured the works of six different jewelry designers. Accornero-Macchi emphasized the opportunity for customers to explore a broader range of jewelry than what is typically available at the store. In honor of the anniversary, a special pricing offer allowed customers to purchase items at 75% of their original price.
