Merrick, NY—In today’s digital world, everything moves faster, which means trends can be amplified before they’re even officially a trend. For example, Fashionista.com pegged chokers as one of the 2016 jewelry trends that fizzled before it even flew: its lifespan lasted no longer than the duration of Coachella 2016. It made a splash when Instagrammed on It Girl model Gigi Hadid, left. But anything on Gigi Hadid is Instagrammed, and despite InStyle magazine commenting on choker fatigue, the style really didn't rocket at retail.
For someone seeking a gift for their own fashionista, pendant necklaces, which Hadid is shown wearing along with the ill-fated choker, are a better bet, along with layerable chains, thin flexible collars (omega chain, anyone?) and ropes, as seen on street-style star Alana Zimmer in the January issue of InStyle magazine:
