A report by Prestige states that the Cubitus model showcases a square platinum case with softened corners, a deep blue sunburst dial, and a composite strap embossed with a fabric-like pattern. Patek Philippe emphasizes the "grand date" display, a large dual-aperture format integrated into the dial for clarity and ease of reading.

This feature sits alongside moon phases and day-of-the-week indicators, forming the centerpiece of a new movement developed by the brand, supported by six patent applications.

The report adds that developing this complex mechanism posed significant challenges for Patek Philippe's engineers. The company based the Cubitus movement on its renowned caliber 240, first introduced in 1977. The 240 movement, known for its slim profile and reliability, houses a 22-karat gold mini-rotor positioned off-center, contributing to the collection's slim case profile.

This ultra-thin foundation was modified to support the collection's additional functions without sacrificing elegance.

To ensure smooth operation, Patek Philippe engineered an instantaneous-jump mechanism. At precisely midnight, the day, date, and moon-phase displays advance simultaneously within 18 milliseconds, using energy accumulated throughout the day. This intricate synchronization is controlled by a main lever driven by a 24-hour wheel, ensuring precise performance without delays.

The Cubitus collection offers a range of materials, including steel, rose gold, and platinum, each enhancing the model's refined "casual chic" aesthetic. The square case design combines polished and satin-brushed surfaces, with the embossed horizontal pattern echoed on the movements' rotors, creating a cohesive visual identity across the collection.
