Poster Abstracts are Now Being Accepted for Converge May 07, 2025 (0 comments)

Carlsbad, CA--Gemologists and other scientists are invited to submit poster presentation abstracts for consideration as part of Converge, being held September 7 – 10 in Carlsbad.
Converge brings together Gemological Institute of America’s gemological research and industry education functions with the American Gem Society’s professional development and opportunities to connect. The two organizations say this helps “gem and jewelry professionals embrace change, navigate uncertainty and uncover new opportunities for continued success.”
Submitted abstracts must fall into one of the conference’s research themes and will be reviewed for appropriateness and scientific merit. The themes are:
- Gemology – the evolving science of gems
- Diamonds – geology, characterization, evaluation, sources, treatments
- Colored Stones – formation, identification, treatment localities
- Pearls – sources, identification, treatments
- Instruments, New Technologies and Techniques
Abstracts for the poster session may be submitted to posters@gia.edu by June 16. All abstracts should include:

- Name, affiliation, mailing address, telephone number and e-mail address of the presenter
- The conference theme for which the abstract is intended
- Brief summary of the research (about 400 words)
