Blue Nile Launches High-End Estate Jewelry Collection
Seattle, WA—As if Blue Nile weren’t already causing enough heartburn among prestige jewelers, the online retailer just stepped on a few more toes with the launch of its first estate jewelry collection.
The e-tailer already had a collection of “extraordinary” gifts; high-end pieces with five-digit price tags, including colored gem and fancy color diamond rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. But estate jewelry was one area that brick-and-mortar jewelers still could comfortably call their own: distinctive, unique, and un-shoppable.
Not anymore. Blue Nile’s Extraordinary Estate Jewelry Collection bowed recently and features hand-picked pieces with famous names and a range of prices from less than $5,000 to as much as $930,000. To date, collection features 13 pieces, including some signed by Marina B. (Marina Bulgari emerald necklace, left, has a $930,000 price tag) and Philadelphia’s famed late J.E. Caldwell Jewelers.
